  • This book is very different than my previous works, in that it is NOT romance…at all. Beneath The Dirt, is a psychological horror/ thriller. It is meant to creep up on you and likely, nothing will make sense… until it does. Don’t expect a romantic, neat bow ending. That’s not what this book is.

     

    Please be aware that this book deals heavily with religious trauma, specifically pertaining to Christianity. Bible verses, bibles, religious artifacts and religious symbols will be referenced/used in varying ways that can be offensive to some. Again, this is a horror story, not a romance, it is not meant to be comfortable. It’s crafted to have you guessing and questioning things until the very end. Your mental health as well as the faith system you hold dear to yourself, is important, and I don’t want anyone to sacrifice that just to read one of my stories.  As always, I urge you to do what’s best for you, even if that means passing on this book.

     

    With that being said, the following are some of the dark elements/ themes to expect in Beneath The Dirt:

     

    Religious trauma, manipulation, abuse of power, mentions of physical abuse, physical abuse (briefly on page), SA mentioned in passing (and in flashbacks), gaslighting, heavy drug use, overdose, hallucinations due to drug use, suicide, explicit sexual scenes, heavy degradation, suicidal ideations, self-harm (mentioned in passing/alluded to on page), grief, violence, claustrophobic scenes, snakes, and use of religious artifacts not as they are intended to be used.

THE TRAP

    Well, it is, if you actually receive an invitation. But for those who aren't as fortunate and find themselves trapped within the soundproof walls of Venganza's Pass it means you aren't playing for fun...you're playing for your life.

    The rules are simple.

    Listen carefully.

    Do as you're told.

    Tell the truth...even if it kills you.

    It's an old-fashioned game of life and death which for Raiden who has perfected the art of deception and Colson, who doesn't begin to comprehend the corruption he was born into... it should be a scream.

  • *While there is technically no cheating in this book, it is very clear (and arguably over the top) the attraction and ‘games’ Raiden (FMC) and Colson (MMC) play while Raiden is with Colson’s brother. Since this is Raiden and Colson’s story – and not Brett’s– just keep that in mind.

THE TRICK

  • Ah, Halloween…what a delightfully wicked time of year.

    But for some people, like Blair Van Tassel, it comes with a haunting reminder of the past she is trying to put behind her.
